How many days a year do you hunt? About 60

Favorite piece of gear? My Chicago Cubs camo hat. Because I love the Cubs and it helped me whack two deer on back to back days last year.

Gear you splurged on? Fieldline Backpack/Fanny pack combo. It was nice to have all my equipment with me in the tree, instead of picking and choosing what to take. Now, I'm prepared to sit all day, because I have plenty of room for food, water, and my equipment.

Most memorable outing in Illinois? Came home from school in Carbondale in late October, got to Peoria County about 4:30 p.m. and I wasn't going to go out but I only had 3 days to hunt before going back to school. Got in my stand and had a 6-pointer and 3 does in the field behind me. Ten minutes later I had a slick head on the ground about 20 yards from me. Next afternoon went to a different farm and killed a mature 8-pointer that scored about 120. It was unbelievable, since I hadn't even got to hunt my farm all year.

What got you interested in hunting? My family and friends, and watching hunting shows when I was little. I was always in awe of wildlife.

How long have you been hunting? 11 years

Favorite species to hunt? Whitetail deer. Because we live in the land of the giants, and it just feels so so good when your hard work throughout the whole year pays off.

What breed hunting dog do you have?

Favorite places to hunt in Illinois? Peoria county, born and raised. CRP with food plots is where it's at.
