Age: 28

Home: Springfield, IL

Occupation: Stay-at-home mother.

How many days a year do you hunt? At least 5. I don't miss deer season, and then whenever my mom schedule allows.

Favorite piece of gear? Camo fanny pack. It holds all my items such as gloves, binoculars, shells, etc. I try to just take it, me, and my gun when I go hunting.

Gear you splurged on? Scope for my gun, to help my hunting.

Most memorable outing in Illinois? Getting my first buck on the second day of first season in 2006. I got him in the morning right after I got out of my stand. He was shot at about 100 yards away, and he ran 30 yards into the timber before going down. This was my very first buck, and I couldn't have been more excited to get a buck this big for my first buck. I'm taking him to Bloomington in February 2008 for the Illinois Deer and Turkey Classic, since I didn't have him back from the taxidermist until the summer. I can't wait just to see him there among all the other bucks!

What got you interested in hunting? My husband and his family after starting me out with sporting-clay shooting.

How long have you been hunting? Since 2001.

Favorite species to hunt? Deer. It's just exciting to see what will come out of the woods, whether you can shoot it or not, just to watch sometimes is amazing and gets your heart racing.

What breed hunting dog do you have? Yellow Labrador Retriever

Favorite places to hunt in Illinois? Montgomery County
