Fall arrives on the prairie
September 19, 2013 at 10:09 PM
Fall is on its way, and late summer and early fall wildflowers are peaking. Goldenrods, asters, rough blazingstar and others are in bloom now.
At Revis Hill Prairie in Mason County, rough blazing star is especially abundant, as is showy goldenrod.
A few monarchs have started to move through, too.
Above: Monarchs visit showy goldenrod.
Rough blazing star adds a purple counterpoint to goldenrod.
